📌 Real Calculation Example (Protected Consumer)
Example: 85 m³ consumed by a protected consumer (SNGPL).
First 50 m³: 50 × Rs 150 = Rs 7,500
Next 35 m³: 35 × Rs 250 = Rs 8,750
Total energy charge = Rs 16,250
Fixed charge = Rs 100
Subtotal = Rs 16,350
GST 18% = Rs 2,943
Total bill ≈ Rs 19,293
⚠️ Why not multiply 85 × 250? Because the first 50 units are charged at the lower protected rate (Rs 150). Using a flat rate would overcharge you. Our calculator applies the correct progressive slabs.
💡 How to Reduce Your Sui Gas Bill
Stay under 100 m³ – The protected consumer threshold saves you thousands monthly (subsidised rates).
Install a solar water heater – Eliminate geyser gas consumption for 8‑9 months of the year.
Reduce shower time – Every minute less saves both gas and water.
Cook with lids on pots – Traps heat, reduces cooking time and gas usage.
Get a gas leak check – Small leaks waste significant gas over time.

What is the difference between protected and non‑protected gas consumers?
Protected consumers use ≤100 m³ per month and pay subsidised rates (first 50 m³ at Rs 150, next 50 at Rs 250). Non‑protected consumers pay much higher progressive rates (up to Rs 1200/m³ above 400 m³).
How to reduce gas bill in winter?
Use a solar water heater, take shorter showers, seal window leaks, and use a timer on your geyser.
